The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was formed in 1946 by Sir Thomas Beecham. Since its earliest days the orchestra as maintained a policy of giving concerts throughout Britain. Today, the demand for one of the World’s most popular orchestras means that, in addition to over a hundred concerts in London and 12 weeks touring overseas, the RPO is asked to perform at more regional centres than any other British Orchestra.
