Russian State Ballet and Opera House, November 2016
Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a Large Live Orchestra with over 30 musicians.
After a long stream of success, the Russian State Ballet and Opera House returns to the UK to provide audiences with two unforgettable family oriented productions, featuring exquisite dancing, beautiful sets, added glitz from the beautiful colourful costumes and, of course, Tchaikovsky’s classical music: The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
Swan Lake – A legend of tragic romance
A princess turned into a swan by an evil curse… Prince Siegfried falls in love with the White Swan princess, Odette, who is under a magic spell and can only be saved by a man who declares her as his first and only love. The perfect romantic ballet of all time performed to Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable score.
The Nutcracker – An Eternal Christmas Favourite
A nutcracker who may just be a handsome prince in disguise. When midnight strikes, the world turns all magical in the wintry glitter of Christmas Eve. Toys come alive, the Mouse-king and his mouse-army battle with the Nutcracker Prince and we travel through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins… A highly accessible ballet, full of familiar music such as the “Waltz of the Flowers” and the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” – a piece for a ballerina set to music written for the unique and almost eerie sounding instrument called celesta.
