Back Street Mammy, November 1989
Temba Theatre Company present Back Street Mammy by Trish Cooke.
Who is Dynette? The young woman her mother couldn’t be? A reflection of the glossy mags? “Everyone keeps putting their dreams on my shoulders. I have to be everything everybody else has failed at” (Dynette).
Warm, witty and presented with a typical Temba style and energy, BACK STREET MAMMY portrays a young woman disentangling herself from family and cultural ties and coming to terms with growing up when she is suddenly faced with the most important decision of her life.
