Brahms Anniversary: 1, October 1983
Johannes Brahms was born just 150 years ago, in 1833; to celebrate this anniversary of one of the greatest of all classical masters, we present two concerts (on Sundays 2 October and 20 November) devoted to a selection of his finest chamber and keyboard works. In the first recital, on 2 October, the Amphion String Quartet plays the A minor String Quartet, Op. 51/1, and then pianist Anthony Goldstone interprets Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Handel, Op.24. After the interval all the players join together for a performance of the tremendous Piano Quartet, Op.34.
