Christie Organ Premiere, September 1987
The Christie 3/10 Theatre Organ has been extensively renovated and up dated in the course of installation in the theatre by Hill, Norman and Beard, the company which originally built the instrument in 1933 for the Carlton Cinema, Liverpool. This fine instrument has always been notable for its rich tonal quality and the acoustics of the theatre will enhance this quality even further. At the opening concert the Christie will be played by five of the leading organists in the country – Joan Fraser, Janet Dowsett, George Blackmore, William Davis and Frank Fowler.
