An 18-strong orchestra making their first appearance at the Gordon Craig, performing a new work commissioned by the Eastern Orchestral Board. Called “Babylon, Bhangra and the Blues” it is described as “passionately inventive and energetic music combines elements of Indian classical music and the rhythms of bhangra with jazz improvisation and bitter-sweet bluesy harmony.
The second half of the concert also involved local musicians from Collenswood School, The North Herts Jazz Orchestra and the Stevenage Wind Band.
