Organ Lecture, November 1992
The Institute of Electrical Engineers presents “Robert Hope-Jones and the Development of the Electric Organ”, a lecture by Cecil E. Ramsbottom CEng MIEE. Robert Hope-Jones was responsible for innovations in organ construction which led him to design the Wurlitzer Organ–the acknowledged status symbol of the super cinemas which provided much of the popular entertainment enjoyed between the World Wars. Cecil Ramsbottom traces the development of his revolutionary designs , and the presentation ends with a demonstration on the Theatre’s Christie Organ by a John Ramsbottom, Assoc IEE, an authority on organ control and recording methods.
