Shirley Valentine, July 1991
Bill Kenwright by arrangement with Bob Swash presents –
Willy Russell’s Comedy of the Year! – SHIRLEY VALENTINE
Ever wondered what happens to a married woman when the kids have grown up and she’s cooked egg and chips just once too often for an old man who’s about as much company as the furniture? SHIRLEY VALENTINE deliciously recounts the tale of the escape of one such Liverpudlian housewife from her cosy but ultimately empty life – and self. With a little bit of help from her feminist friend, 42-year-old Mrs. Joe Bradshaw follows her dream of drinking wine in a country where the grape is grown and rediscovers her former self, Shirley Valentine.
