The Fox, May 1987
Play from a story by D H Lawrence. Adaptation by Allan Miller.
The unexpected arrival of soldier Henry Grenfell turns the quiet lives of Jill Banford and Nellie March upside down. He is generous and eager to help, he makes the chickens lay for the first time, on this ramshackle farm.
But as he begins to draw out Nellie’s needs and desires, the high spirits vanish and his predatory nature asserts itself. Only Jill sees his real motives, and too late sparks the final frightening conflict.
