The Legend of Charlie Chaplin, May 1979
Illustrated talk
ERIC JAMES met CHARLIE CHAPLIN in 1956 when he was directing A King in New York at the Shepperton Film Studios. Eric was engaged to play Solo Piano for a Post-Synchronisation sequence. As a result of this he became his Sole Music Associate. In this capacity, he helped the great man to compose and arrange the music for a large number of “Silent” full length films and “Shorts” as well as the more recent A Countess from Hong Kong movie. As a result of this long and intimate personal and professional relationship which continued until Charlie died in December 1977, Eric, assisted by his talented wife and partner, singer Phyllis O’Reilly, stages a highly entertaining presentation, interspersed with Songs, Talk, Music, Films and Slides which he calls . . . “THE LEGEND OF CHARLIE CHAPLIN”
