The Sleeping Beauty, February 1989
The Lewis London Ballet presents The Sleeping Beauty
Choreography: Lewis/Petipa
Music: Tchaikovsky arranged by Alvin Moisey
This luxuriant production captures the essential essence of the conflict between good and evil. Set just before the turn of the century in Paris at a society christening, the uninvited Aunt Carabosse delivers a demonic curse on baby Aurora, which is realised at Aurora’s birthday party sixteen years later and happily reversed by good Aunt Lilac. The ballet culminates in the magnificent dancing of Aurora’s wedding.
